In 2014, the Greenwood Indicators Project was established through the collaborative partnership of the Greenwood County Community Foundation, Self Family Foundation, United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties, Self Regional Healthcare, Greenwood SC Chamber, and Greenwood Partnership Alliance. First community feedback was collected through online and paper surveys and community forums. Additionally, a data report was conducted by Metropolitan Institute. After analyzing the data and community opinions 5 focus areas were selected including Health and Wellness, Family Vibrancy, Economic Vitality, Knowledge for Tomorrow, and Community Enrichment and Engagement. Task forces were formed around each focus area where members create community plans to address areas of greatest need. Currently the 5 task forces meet once a month August to May and passionate citizens are always welcome. Local organizations or corporations are also invited to join the collaborating partners by providing funding for the project and the coordinator would be happy to provide additional information.
